Was one of the best Italian places on the island! Shame it's closed now... The pizza was awesome, and the dinners were very well portioned. The bartenders and drinks were always top notch!

Yum! The drinks and food in this cute little Italian place was so good. The sunshine spritz was my favorite of the drinks that we got. Our awesome server, Lizzie suggested the figgy piggy sandwich and it was so delicious. She was really friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this spot!

Sometimes those last minute dinner decisions that come about from scrolling through Yelp reviews and bookmarked spots turn out to be extraordinary. Sometimes they don't. I'm not here to confuse anyone because La Tavola basically earned their four stars, though that fifth one couldn't be found (similarly to our waitress at the end of our meal), but we'll get there. Let's start with the fact that we (my wife and I) were getting to La Tavola on the slightly later side. It was 8:30 and the place closes at 10:00 so you'd imagine we'd have enough time to eat and still make it out before they have to unlock the doors to the front for us, though you might be imagining incorrectly. I shouldn't hound on that fact too much because honestly, a slow and relaxing meal is something we take for granted. And truth be told, almost everything we ordered and ate came out at a good pace. What did we order? Well let's reverse for a sec back to the start with a refreshing draft beer from Garvies Point. Next up was a small plate of arancini balls (stuffed with sausage and provolone on a bed of marinara) which had great flavor in each bite. For the main meal, my wife and I split the orecchiette pasta (with sausage, cherry pepper, broccoli rabe, and a garlic white wine sauce) and the Drunken Meatball pizza (with vodka sauce, meatballs, mozzarella, and basil). Both were delicious with the pasta winning out through its variety of taste and the pizza having flavor though not necessarily a strong enough vodka sauce kick as I would've hoped. We ended on dessert (which was the best part of the meal) with the Tavola donut (cannoli cream and raspberry sorbet). It was out of this world and a definite item to order again. But you know what we didn't get? Bread. Listen, we had quite a good meal and it wasn't necessary for us to have a basket of carbs on top of all of our other carbs, but it was a bit annoying to see other tables sit after us and get bread while we were never offered any. Yes, we could've asked, but we didn't need it, and in the end it's the restaurant's responsibility to be on top of things like that. Instead, I just use that piece as unfortunate ammo in the end result of this review. With that ammo, we return to the end of our meal. Perhaps it was what I previously mentioned, that it was later at night, because the staff definitely seemed like they were starting to wind down for the evening as we got closer to 9:30. By the end of the meal, our waitress was rather MIA and we really just wanted to go. I took one last picture from the outside of this little Italian spot when we were finally walking out and the time stamp was 10:00 on the dot. Our meal did include an app and dessert, but our waitress, though very friendly, didn't entirely help in shortening our time here. Overall, I do feel like La Tavola is still worthy of four stars. It can't hit the five mark, and I don't want to throw three stars their way because it felt like a few of those snafus were situational. Yes, no matter the time you go to a restaurant you should have the same experience (which include bread and a present wait staff!), but I do feel that those factors would be different if we returned at an earlier/different time. For the sake of the initially friendly staff, tasty grub (oh and the cozy rustic Italian ambiance on the inside), I'll give them four stars knowing that I do want to return. So for now, we'll keep that Yelp bookmark in place.

I'm really enjoying how there are more and more gluten free options. For celiac you still can't have fries and some other items. I enjoyed my omelette today and feel good. The waitress went to the chef to get answers about all my concerns. I hope in the future they have gluten free bread. I would love to be able to have a burger or sandwich.

Went here for restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised. It was warm and inviting and the staff was excellent usually the food during restaurant week may be "off" due to various reasons. There was only the one restaurant week menu being offered and everything was delicious! I got the Tuscan eggplant and my friend got the short ribs (I don't think they're on the regular menu). Both were fantastic. I'm a sucker for grilled romaine, and will order it any time I see it offered. The banana bread pudding was good but the caramel gelato made it better. If I had one thing to nitpick about - the broccoli rabe that came with the eggplant was a bit too salty and bitter for me. I'd definitely go back again and try their regular menu.

Great location. Parking lot is very small but seems you can part on the streets near by with a very short walk. Food is always great. Big menu with many options that it makes it tough to choose. Desserts are excellent.

Went here during Long Island resturant week and was extremely impressed with the selection and food. La Tavola had come highly recommended from a few friends and their opinion did not disappoint. The price fix menu for restaurant week had a nice selection for each course. I also took a look at the regular menu as well and they have a lot of traditional and unique Italian and modern inspired dishes. There are plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options, and our server was very accommodating and knowledgable about the menu. The restaurant itself is cute, cozy, and warm. Between 2 of us and 6 dishes, there was nothing left on any plate! This place is definitely a great local option for dinner out on the town. (While there, I noticed some signage for different weeknight incentives they offer so take a look at their website to take advantage of those.) I'll be back soon!

La Tavola is the kind of place I dig. Simple, casual vibe couples on date night and families can feel equally comfortable here. Tables with lighting and umbrellas make for viable outdoor options under most conditions. As you enter thereis a decently sized bar with several high tops and some TVs if you want to watch a game while noshing on gnocchi. Lots of tables allow for large groups and the deep, crescent banquets are very comfy. It seems that there is a separate room off to the side that may be used for private events. The food is straightforward, simply prepared and very well done. We shared the calamari fritti which was lightly battered and fried; not greasy or heavy at all. I appreciated the small sprinkling of red pepper flakes in the marinara sauce (though my wife did not. SISSY!) Soft, warm bread came to the table which was perfect for dipping. I normally don't touch bread when we go out because I don't want it taking up valuable real estate where food or (let's be honest) alcohol can go but it was irresistible. I don't know if they make it on the premises but it tastes like they do. Wife had gnocchi bolognese which was dense and filling and flavorful. I got the lemon shrimp and clam on angel hair. The pasta was a tad past al dente but I tend to like my pasta softer that was fine. Simple oil and quite garlicky. The shrimp was very tasty though I occasionally ran across an over cooked one but it did not detract from the dish at all. The clams were great with the brine providing a nice counter to the pasta. Chocolate mousse cake for dessert was also great. The mousse was the perfect texture. Not that mushy feel when it's been sitting out on a counter or too hard like when they just pulled it out of a fridge. Nice crust too. I should have gotten one for myself instead of sharing. What surprised me was their craft beer menu. I came for the food and had no idea the bar would have so many offerings: Great South Bay, Cigar City, Sierra Nevada (natch), Coney Island, Founders and Montauk! Of course, the sizable selection of macros as well and what seemed to be a well-curated and sufficient wine list. But I'm not a wine guy so take that for what it's worth. Happy hour feature $5 beer and wine (I think), and pitchers of sangria. Had a really good early dinner here. My only regret is that I did not sooner! Thanks for the great time!
